What we measure on our blog
Every blog page view, how long the article tab stays open and visible, and the country your connection comes from. We work out the country on our own server from your IP address, then discard the address; we never store it. We store only daily totals, such as 30 views from Pakistan for one article, which can’t identify you.
Cookies we use
| Name | Purpose | Lifetime | When it is set |
|---|---|---|---|
dh_consent | Remembers whether you chose Accept or Reject, so we don’t ask again. | 180 days | When you choose. Strictly necessary, so it needs no consent. |
dh_vid | Recognizes you as a returning reader of our blog. It holds a random id and the day you were first seen, nothing else. | 13 months from the day it is set, never extended | Only after you accept, on your next blog page view. |
